Our Story
At Local254 we have a very proud legacy, we have been in existence for over 100 years. Today we have a membership of over 1300 men and women who are excelling in the trades of plumbing, steamfitting, welding, sprinkler fitting and refrigeration (HVAC).
Today’s modern UA members are the undisputed skilled tradespeople of their profession, working on everything from homes, office buildings, apartments, power plants, factories, and refineries. There is hardly a construction project that does not call for their skill, expertise and dedication to the job. To prepare for the future generations of workersLocal 254 is investing heavily in training at the Piping Industry Technical College of Manitoba (link) to make ensure that the union and our members are ready to face the challenges of rapid technological advances.
Local 254 represents the main pipefitting trades in and around Manitoba. The offices are based in Winnipeg and represent union
labour tradespersons in plumbing, steam fitting, welding, sprinkler fitting, refrigeration (HVAC).
Local 254 is chartered with the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada. We have a membership of over 1300 men and women, and this figure is growing.
Our Health and Welfare Benefits and Pension Plans are independently administered by Benefits Companies and are overseen by elected Trustees. These Plans also have Contractor Trustees as they too have a vested interest in the Plans.
We are proud to offer industry training at the Piping Industry Technical College of Manitoba. The technical college oversees all apprentices in the above trades and provides trade specific training to better the skills of our journeypersons.
