TO: ALL UA LOCAL UNION "488 MEMBERS, TRAVEL CARDS, & PERMIT WORKERS

Productivity issues continue to plague our industry on almost every project to the point
of tarnishing our reputation as the labour provider of choice. This is costing us
future job opportunities and must be addressed. The Local Union Executive Board,
in conjunction with the Business Manager, have determined that any individual
terminated for just cause (including tardiness, absenteeism, early quits, and extended
breaks) will be subject to the following:

Travel Cards and Permit Workers will not be eligible for dispatch to any project for a
period of 30 days on a first offence and one (1) year on subsequent offences. Any
termination for just cause will cause applications for transfer/membership in UA
Local Union 488 to become void and applicants must re-apply upon the lifting of any
suspensions.

Members will be subject to the UA Canadian Standard of Excellence program and
accompanying disciplinary program. The program is currently posted on our website
at www.local488.ca and will soon be mailed to every member.

Contractors must notify the Union in writing of any dismissals for cause immediately
at the time of termination in order for this program to be effective.
Clients/Owners will be notified of any contractors not participating in this program
or not cooperating to the fullest.

The majority of members and guest workers will not be affected by this program, and
I apologize for any embarrassment or inconvenience that this program may cause,
however, we cannot allow a minority of workers to jeopardize our future.
